ANTEPARTUM HAEMORRHAGE(APH)
Bleeding from the genital tract in late pregnancy, after the 24th week of gestation and before the set of labour IS referred to as an Ante partum haemorrhage (APH). Assessment of a woman with APH When a woman first looses blood from the reproductive track during pregnancy , she has little idea of the cause and will find the episode frightening and disturbing She may call the midwife or present herself at hospital Her first need is for a feeling that someone capable is in control of the situation. She will fear that she is losing her baby, her husband may fear for the lives of both mother and child. This stage is to be supportive and ascertain as much detail as possible of the history and the circumstances surrounding the blood loss. This will assist both in assessing the woman's condition and in making a diagnosis. However, the women will also be aware that APH is un predictable and the woman's condition can deteriorate rapidly at any time; she must therefore make a rapid decision about the urgency of need of a medical or paramedic presence, or both, often at the same time as observing and talking to the woman and her husband.
Type of Antepartum haemorrhage (APH)
There are many different reasons for antepartum haemorrhage which may be the cause of the dangerous pregnancy.
- Placenta previa
- Placental abruption
SIGN OF APH:
Bleeding and Late pregnancy(long term pregnancy) may be the cause of antepartum haemorrhage there are many precaution requires in pregnancy and in complicated pregnancy. The family members should be aware about this conditions and its management.
