HEPATITIS B

 It is a liver infection caused by Hepatitis B Virus.

Spread of Hepatitis B: Hepatitis B spreads by contact with an infected person's blood, semen, or other body fluid having sex with an infected person without using a condom sharing drug needles Toting a tattoo or body piercing with dirty tools that were used on someone else getting pricked with a needle that has infected blood on it. Health care workers can get hepatitis B this way. sharing a toothbrush or razor with an infected person an infected woman can give hepatitis B to her baby at birth or through her breast milk Hepatitis B does not spread by shaking hands with infected person .hugging an infected person sitting next to an infected person

 Tests for Hepatitis B: A blood test is done to check for hepatitis B These tests show if one has hepatitis B and how serious it is The doctor May also do a liver biopsy, Biopsy is a simple test. In which a tiny piece of the liver through the needle is removed and checked for signs of hepatitis B and liver damages.

 Treatment of Hepatitis B if a person faces symptoms or think he might have Hepatitis B he or she should go to the doctor. Treatment for Hepatitis B may involve A drug called interferon is given through shots Most people are treated for 4 months. A drug called lamivudine it is given by mouth once a day Treatment is usually for one year. Sometimes lamivudine is combined with interferon. Surgery Over time, hepatitis stop working If that happens, one will need a new liver from a donor The surgery is called a liver transplant.

 Prevention of Hepatitis B:

A person can get the Hepatitis B vaccination done to protect him/ herself

 The vaccine is given through three shots.

 All babies should get it Infants get the first shot within 12 hours after birth. 

They get the second shot at the age I to 2 months and the third shot between ages 6 to 18 months. Older children and adults can get the vaccine too. They can get 3 shots over 6 months. Children who had not the vaccine should get it.

A person needs all of the shots to be protected from hepatitis B  if a shot is missed go to the doctor and clinics right away to set up a new appointment one can also protect self and others from hepatitis B.

  • Do not share any needle
  • Use gloves if you are touching the blood of a hepatitis patient.
  • Do not use teeth brush or razor or infected person

  • Do not touch anything which thing have blood on it.
  • If you have a tattoo or body piercing make sure these instruments are clean.
